Management of the Rio Ceira river basin adapted to a changing climate
Within the general objectives of EEA Grants in reducing economic and social disparities in Europe and strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation with donor countries, this Project aims at improving resilience and response capacity to climate change in selected areas through concrete climate change adaptation measures at local level.

Under the project "Management of the Ceira River Basin in the face of climate change" we made a visit to the works with the presence of the Norwegian Ambassador in Portugal, Tove Bruvik Westberg, the president of APA, Nuno Lacasta, Susana Escária of the General Secretariat of Environment and the National Management Unit of EEA Grants.
This initiative had the mission of challenging the local community to know or revisit the natural and human heritage of the council, through the sharing of photographs under the motto "The River and the Man", more specifically the path of the Ceira River in the council of Góis.
On March 9, the consignment notice for an intervention of more than 400 thousand euros was celebrated to rehabilitate the riverside ecosystems of the river Ceira, over a length of 35km.
Two weirs on the Ceira River were repaired to prevent flooding. The regularization works of this river, designated as “Ceira River Fluvial Rehabilitation - Hydraulic Works”, are part of the project “Management of the Ceira River Basin in adapted to a Changing Climate”.
